Rediscovering Products: Shopping in My Own Collection

When you have a large makeup collection, sometimes you forget what products are sitting there. Every month I go “shopping” in my collection and put a couple of products into my makeup bag that I would like to remind myself to use.

I am actually good about rotating my foundations, but it’s a lot of the other stuff that I need to be reminded of.

L to R: Urban Decay Walk of Shame, NARS Creamy Concealer in Vanilla

I recently grew my eyebrows back and after I had them reshaped, I was looking through my collection for good products to highlight my brow bone. I have had Walk of Shame for a while, but to be honest, I had never used it once. Now I have been using it quite often on my brow bone.

I have also have the NARS Creamy Concealer since it came out, but had hardly used it. It’s a bit too light for me to use as an under-eye concealer, but it’s a great color for my brow bone.

L to R: NARS Galapagos, Bare Minerals Fire Opal, BH Day & Night palette

Although I have loads of eye shadow, I don’t actually wear it everyday. But, I have been trying to force myself to wear shadow more often. I always throw a feel singles or duos in my makeup bag and I try to rotate my palettes every month.

And the camera doesn’t pick it up, but that Bare Minerals shadow is amazing! It’s a light orange with this really cool green duochrome shimmer. But I’m pretty sure it’s discontinued.

L to R: MAC Harmony, MAC Peony Petal, MAC Peaches, Bare Minerals Pure Radiance

I am a huge fiend for cheek products! Even when I have minimal makeup on, I always have my cheeks made up.

I had seen Tanya Burr (aka Pixi2woo on YouTube) mention Harmony in her April Favorites and she reminded me of it. I had gotten in the habit of using bronzer to contour my cheekbones, which I still like, but I needed a change. Pure Radiance had come in a Christmas gift set and I remember thinking it was okay. I actually kind of like it now. And it might make a cute eye shadow.

L to R: MAC Candy Yum Yum, NYX Narcissus

I love hot pink lipstick, but I always tend to reach for either something neutral or something orange. So I’m trying to get more use out of my bright pinks.

Do you rotate the products in your makeup bag?

That is a great idea to set up a separate makeup bag for the week. I do wear eye shadow daily and I too try to rotate. Now I want to shop in my own collection. Thanks for the tip. I love your blog!
