Essie Shake Your $$ Maker

Essie has a new Neon Collection out for 2013. Originally, I wasn’t planning on purchasing any polishes from this collection because I already have loads of neons, but I couldn’t pass on this shade called Shake Your $$ Maker.

Four coats of Shake Your $$ Maker with a topcoat.

I love the actual color of Shake Your $$ Maker. It reminds me of the sort of green that cartoons use to represent money. The formula was easy to work with, but as you can see it was a bit problematic. The polish itself was very sheer, so I needed four coats. And as you can probably tell in the photograph above, that the polish collected more at the ends of my nail and left the lower area, near my cuticle, more sheer.

It dried matte, so I did need a topcoat (I use Nubar Diamont), but that is expected with neon shades. Even though I had a couple of issues with the formula, I still love this color. Next time I may try a white base to see if that evens things out a bit more.

What do you think of Shake Your $$ Maker? Did you purchase any other shades from the Neon 2013 Collection?

I love how different this green is from anything I’ve seen on the market lately! Perfect name for the shade also!

Such a cute color! I did not know about the neon collection. I have quite a few neon’s from other collections and love them for summer! It looks like the polish is gradually changing color on your nail from sheer to full on color :) The name is cute too and totally suits this shade.
