I am quite pale. Somewhere along the rode, pale became a derogatory term and now you have to say fair or something a bit nicer. But I am pale, and actually, I quite like it.
I am one of those people who burns instead of tans and I have no interest in using fake tan. Because of this, it’s hard for me to find foundations that are a good match for my skin tone. Probably the best match for my skin is Revlon ColorStay in 150 Buff, which is the second lightest shade in the range. However, most foundations do not go light enough for me.
If you are fair, like I am, getting a white foundation is going to be the best thing for you. It will change your life. I mix some white into any foundation that is too dark for me. My personal favorite in MAC Face & Body in White, which is only available at the Pro stores. If you like a bit more coverage, Illamasqua Skin Base also comes in white. I prefer MAC Face & Body over Illamasqua Skin Base because I like the watery consistency of Face & Body as it has a lighter coverage and sits better on my dry skin.
For anyone who is interested, these are the foundations/tinted moisturizers that I actually like and are too dark for me:
L to R: theBalm Balm Shelter, Urban Decay Urban Defense (which I believe is being discontinued), MAC Face & Body, RImmel Wake Me Up, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
All of these are the lightest shade available, and even when blended down my neck it still looks like a semi-tan head on a pale person’s body.
Have you ever had to lighten your foundation with white?
