If you read my blog regularly or know me in person, then you are already aware of the fact that I love blush and cheek products. One of my random blush obsessions is actually red blush, which I particularly like wearing in the autumn and winter. I find that red-toned blushes can give very natural, flushed cheeks that is very fitting during the colder months.
L to R: MAC Frankly Scarlet, Stila Peony, theBalm Beauty Queen
My first and most obvious choice is MAC’s powder blush in Frankly Scarlet. I have already talked about this blush a couple times on here, but it really is one of my favorites. I know that it looks a bit scary in the pan, especially if you are pale I like am, but I assure you that using a tiny amount with a fluffy brush really does look great (and surprisingly natural).
If you are a bit weary of red blush, then I recommend the Stila Convertible color in Peony, which a bit more rosy-hued and not as bold as going for a bright, red blush. The Convertible Color’s are also cream products, so they are a bit easier to work with when it comes to blending the blush onto your cheek. Just a note – mine is small because it came in a gift set; the full size is much larger.
My last pick is from theBalm. It is their Stainiac lip and cheek stain in the shade Beauty Queen. The Stainiac’s contain a doe-foot applicator because the product is a cross between a liquid and a gel. Although this shade does look very bold, it actually applies the most sheer of the three. This is also a trial size that I received in my Birchbox a few months back, so the full-size is not this small.
I know red blush can be a bit daunting, but it can actually look a lot more natural than you would think. And it looks great with a rose colored lipstick!
