Best Skincare Bits: Cleansers & Masks

This is the second post in my Best Skincare Bits series. Today’s post is about my favorite cleanser and favorite mask. I have tried many products over the years and these are the two that I have found work best for me right now.

I have been using both of these products for about 6 months, so I feel like I am able to give a pretty good review of how they work and why I like them!

Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil

I should start off by saying that I have had rotten luck with most cleansing; they either cause breaks outs or weird, blotchy redness. Julep’s Bare Face is not only great for sensitive, blemish prone skin, but it also takes off all of your makeup at the end of the day!

Since Bare Face is a cleansing oil, you use it dry. I pumped out some of the oil into my hands and massage the oil into my face and neck for a few seconds. It breaks down makeup pretty quickly, so I’m not sitting there for like five minutes trying to get my makeup off. To get off the oil and makeup, I use a damp paper towel to wipe away all of the grime. Then I rinse my face over the skin. In the evening I do go in with a second cleanser (LUSH Angels on Bare Skin) to make sure all of my makeup, etc is off my face. However, I still use baby oil for my eye makeup because I have extremely sensitive eyes and baby oil is the only product that does not cause stinging.

I use this product morning and night and I have to say, this one bottle really lasts a while (about 5-6 months). I know this is a high claim to make, but I think the Bare Face Cleansing Oil is my number one skincare product!

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Like with cleansers, I have also have a bit of bad luck with face masks. However, I have had a really good experience with the REN Glycol Lactic mask. This mask keeps my skin looking healthy and glowy, while also pulling dirt from my pores. I leave this product on clean skin for ten minutes and by the time I’m ready to take it off, I can see any dirt that has been purged from my face. I know it sounds gross, but at the same time I don’t want that dirt sitting in my pores!

I order the Julep cleanser from Julep.com and it’s $28, although if you are in their Julep Maven program it is $22.40 (and they always run specials and offers for Maven members). I purchased the REN Glycol Lactic mask from Sephora for $55 (but it is also sometimes available in a gift set with other products, which I think is a better value).

What is your favorite cleanser or face mask? Have you tried either of these products?
