With the whole Perfect Palette Tag going around and my love for eye shadow, I thought I would do a post on my top neutral eye shadow palettes. Although I own a lot of colored eye shadow palettes, these are the ones I reach for the most.
I did not include my MAC or Inglot palettes since those you can build yourself to customize. These are all pre-made, and I know a lot of people spend a lot of time trying to figure out which palette is right for them before they make a purchase.
Best All-Around: Urban Decay Naked
This is probably not a surprise to most people. For me, the Urban Decay Naked palette is my top neutral eye shadow palette, overall. The color choice and variety is pretty good; although this palette is mostly warm-toned, there are a few cooler shades and a few pink-toned eye shadows. There are also two matte shadows included in this palette that are great for the crease.
Best for Travel: Sleek Oh So Special
In general, the Sleek i-Divine palettes are great for travel because they pretty much fit into the palm of your hand. Oh So Special is my favorite palette from Sleek because I like that there are a good amount of pink and coral-toned eye shadows (but they still look natural on). Oh So Special even includes one of my favorite types of crease shades: a matte mustard, yellow. And don’t be afraid of the mustard shadow; it looks great when applied lightly in crease with a gold or bronze shade on the lid.
Most Versatile: LORAC Pro
The LORAC Pro palette has become quite the blogger favorite, and for good reason. This palette is great for travel, everyday use, and is probably the most versatile of the palettes featured here. The entire top row contains matte shades and the bottom row has all of the shimmery shadows. You can create anything from a soft, day look to a dark, smoky eye. The pop of red (Garnet) and plum (Deep Purple) are a nice addition.
Best Bargain: Coastal Scents Revealed
Although the Sleek palettes are a good value, my top pick is actually the Revealed palette by Coastal Scents. This palette contains twenty eye shadows, that are a mix of mattes and shimmers. Although this palette is obviously trying to capitalize off of the Urban Decay Naked palettes, I wouldn’t say it’s an exact dupe; many of the shades are different from those in the Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes. At $19.95, this palette is a great bargain.
Do you own any of these palettes? Are any of them in your wishlist?
